IONS Yerevan 2018

International OSA Student Network | 30 Aug- 2 Sep

Registration deadline is 7 August!

Welcome to the IONS® Yerevan 2018 conference official website!

The International OSA Network of Students (IONS®) conferences are organised worldwide by OSA student chapters targeting on a huge variety of topics mainly from optics and photonics. Unlike the majority of international scientific conferences, IONS conferences are unique as they also include professional development talks. IONS conferences gave an opportunity to every student to be a part of a great network between young researchers and talented scientists on an international scale.

The IONS Yerevan 2018 international conference is hosted by OSA student chapter of Yerevan State University (YSU) and National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and SPIE student chapter of RAU & NAS for the second time, and co-hosted by the OSA student chapter of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev in Yerevan between August 30 – September 2, 2018.

We are targeting MS., Ph.D students and postdoctoral fellows worldwide whose specialty is optics and photonics. Our aim is to create a warm environment where knowledge sharing and collaboration between young and senior scientists is of huge priority. Both technical and professional development talks and poster presentations are scheduled along with plenary talks and lectures of invited speakers. The conference program will also cover student chapter management, outreach and social activities.

The conference will take place in one of the most ancient cities in the world: in Yerevan, whose history dates back to the 8th century BC. The attendees will have an opportunity to get familiar with one of the most ancient fortresses in the world: the Erebuni Fortress. Besides, there are many opera houses, theatres and museums which illustrate the magnificent culture of our nation. Furthermore, the tour organised on the last day of the conference will lead attendees to another historical place: the Temple of Garni, which is a Greco-Roman collonaded building in Armenia.

Our OSA and SPIE teams welcome you to take part in a memorable event, which will not only have a great scientific value, but will also help students seeking a great career to gain new valuable contacts. We warmly welcome you to have an enjoyable experience at IONS Yerevan 2018!
